intro |
Olive text indicates a specimen that has not been
thoroughly examined (for example, for microscopic details) and marks other places in the text
where data is missing or uncertain.
The following text is based on original research by R. E. Tulloss. |
pileus |
36 - 55 mm wide, pale olivaceous tan (significantly paler than 2.5Y 7/4)or very pallid becoming yellowish gray, planoconvex to concave with umbo in shallow depression, dull, dry to tacky to slightly waxy feeling, staining/bruising not apparent; context white to off-white, bruising/staining not apparent, 1.5 - 4 mm thick over stipe, narrowing evenly for two-thirds of radius, then membranous to margin; margin non-appendiculate, striate (0.35 - 0.5R); universal veil absent. |
lamellae |
free to narrowly adnate, with decurrent lines on stipe apex very faint and short or absent, close to crowded, off-white to cream in mass, off-white in side view, 3 - 5 mm broad, staining/brusing not apparent; lamellulae truncate or truncate with proportionately/unusually large attenuate tooth, unevenly distributed, of diverse lengths, from very common to uncommon (in some sectors). |
stipe |
68 - 110± × 4 - 7 mm, pale orange-brown or off-white with faint brownish tint in older material, staining/bruising not apparent, strongly narrowing upward, not flaring at apex or flaring at apex slowly over distance of 6 - 7 mm, in younger material with faint white punctation in upper one-quarter and otherwise minutely striatulate, in older material entirely longitudinally striatulate and minutely fibrillose (10× lens) below; context white to off-white, staining/bruising not apparent, in young material largely stuffed, in older material hollow, with central cylinder 1 - 3 mm wide, stuffing material comprising white cottony fibrils, animal tunnels absent or staining ochraceous brown; exannulate; universal veil saccate, smooth, membranous (rather thin), with layering (naked eye), 20 - 40 × 8.5 - 13 mm, with exterior white and developing more or less distinct brown spots or stains with age, appressed to stipe for slightly less than half of volval limb, with distinct limbus internus placed ca. upper end of appressed region. |
